    Underpinning the neighbouring walls

    Groundwork begins with underpinning. Hand-dug bays beneath the retained
    party walls are shuttered and filled with concrete, one section at a time,
    carrying the old foundations down to the depth the new basement needs before
    any bulk excavation starts. The formwork props for the job have been
    delivered and are stacked on site.
